History was made earlier this week when the testing of the Gold Coast trams reached Broadbeach.
Flanked by GoldLinQ officials walking on foot and a police-escort, the tram made its full journey from Gold Coast University to Broadbeach on Monday, stopping at its final destination, Brodbeach South station – just outside of Bel Air on Broadbeach!
Work on the tram lines commenced in February 2012 and once fully operational the trams are expected to take 37 minutes to make the full trip.
Further testing and driver training will increase next week and the light rail is said to be on schedule to commence passenger services on the Gold Coast by mid 2014.
