Gold Coast Whale Watching
May marks the commencement of Whale Watching season on the Gold Coast! From the end of the month until November, whales will be passing by our beautiful Gold Coast beaches on their migration journey.
The geographical location of the Gold Coast makes it the perfect destination for whale watching. There are approximately 25,000 viewing opportunities during the whale migration as they make their way up and then down the coast.
Whale watchers have the opportunity to spot a variety of marine life in their natural habitat, including Humpback Whales, whale claves, Killer Whales and if you're lucky; ‘Migaloo’ the famous white Humpback. It’s also likely you’ll see a dolphin or two!
It’s common to spot the spout of a whale or even a whale breaching from the beach and coastline. However, for that up close and personal experience and guaranteed sightings you may wish to join a Whale Watching Tour. Just 10 minutes by boat off the coast and you’re in the middle of what is often referred to as the Humpback Highway.
There are Gold Coast Whale Watching tours departing from Marina Mirage, Sea World and Surfers Paradise.
