Light Rail to Burleigh
According to recent reports in the Gold Coast Bulletin - Light Rail Stage 3 is no longer a matter of if, but when.
In the development, the Gold Coast Light Rail, which currently runs from Broadbeach South to the Gold Coast University Hospital, will be extended north to the popular beachside village of Burleigh Heads.
Apparently planning has already began, with council officers working on plans and drawing up routes for the tram line which is expected to travel south along the Gold Coast Highway. Although still in the early stages, city leaders are confident they will see a proposal in coming months.
A multi-storey 'transit-orientated development' has also been proposed for a location on the Gold Cost Highway (just north of Markeri St) this complex would feature cafes, restaurant, shops and units.
Well, we look forward to hearing more about the development and we will keep you posted with more news!
Currently you can ride the tram from the Gold Coast Light Rail Broadbeach South station which is directly in front of Bel Air on Broadbeach, the tram line has 16 stops travelling north, including Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Southport and the Gold Coast University Hospital.
